The Health Advocates

Dr Chen was being featured in Business Time, CEO Conversation

"As Dr Chen explains, the company's health food products are made from wholesome plant foods readily available in the supermarket. "What we provide is convenience for people too busy to prepare a wide variety of fruits and vegetables daily," she says.

"E. Excel's nutritional immunology advocates prevention over cure. By improving our diet with a wide variety of health-boosting fruits and vegetables found in the supermarket, and adopting a healthy lifestyle, we can strengthen our immune system and reduce the risk of disease," Dr Chen says."
But the initial going was tough. At that time, people were more receptive towards man-made supplements instead of natural foods. "People wanted secret, ancient formulas. And they thought anything chemical was better, preferring to take a vitamin C pill instead of eating an orange."

Not giving in to popular sentiment, she stuck to her original philosophy that whole foods are the way to go. "We know whole foods are good for people, and that gave us the strength to continue," she says.

Is Glucosamine Supplement Safe?

Many opt to take Glucosamine supplements whenever there is a joint pain or suffer from arthritis.

For me, I won't go for that due to many reasons.

This is one of the article from The Straits Times, which stated clearly on why Glucosamine and chondroitin don't work

"Compared with placebo, glucosamine, chondroitin and their combination DO NOT reduce joint pain or have an impact on narrowing of joint space."

"I tell my patients clearly that glucosamine sulphate is essentially a mild anti-inflammatory agent with minimal side effects compared to standard pain killer"

Learning how to read ingredient label is important, to be wiser consumer.

2 Sources of Glucosamine Supplements

Animal made or man made (synthetically made)

What could be the potential side effects if we replacing the Glucosamine from external sources? Either from Animal or man-made?

Watch this youtube to understand more on where does ingredients of animal made Glucosamine comes from, and how it affects our body? (This video is in mandarin, it gives us clearer understanding on what's going on at the back of animal made Glucosamine)

How do we know if the Glucosamine that we are taking is animal made or man made?

Have you looked at ingredient label before you buy any supplements?

Let's learn to read label, it's a simple process.

1. Guess where does this Glucosamine made from?

Is it obvious that it's from Animal (crab, shrimp, lobster, crayfish) - It's replacement Glucosamine.

2. How about this? Vegetarian Glucosamine

Naturally there is no Glucosamine exists in plant food, Glucosamine HCI (Hydrochloride) is usually made in lab and use corn as partial material, thus it's considered as man made Glucosamine.

What are better solution for our joint?

By taking the right food to let our body to produce Glusosamine naturally, we are able to safe guard and protect out joints without any side effects.

Fruits and vegetables which are high in Glutamine are great in letting our body to self produce Glucosamine

Above are the variety of the fruits and vegetables which help to protect our joint.

If you are looking for convenience and safe products, you can look for GART which is combining Cactus, Spinach, Parsley, Ginger, Alfalfa, Acelora Cherry, Brown Algae

How Nutritional Immunology Lifestyle helps in Heart Disease

Dear friends, 96

It was alarming to saw these 2 articles related to heart diseases

Especially being a women, and I have seen many around me working long hour, more than 55 hours stated in the article.

The risk of heart disease actually increases by 33%

When we look at those around us, hypertension is no longer happening at elderly, but at the age of 30's, or even younger. The disease rate is getting younger. How can all these happens?

What could potentially happen when they have heart disease, such as high blood pressure or arrhythmia.

Mostly, they will start taking medicine, which could be taking for whole life.

Some of the common heart disease drugs, and how their side effects.

Yes, indeed we need medicine to help us control situation. However, do you intend to take it for life?

With courtesy of our team mate's sharing, one of her friend's grandpa, who has been taking medicine diligently suffers from stroke. Checking with that friend few days later, and found out that her grandpa has passed away.

Here is the question, why this is still happening even though he was on medicine still?

Do you know how hypertension medication works?

Just imagine,  you have your water piping system. If the pressure in your piping is high, what will you do?

Yes, you turn the water flow smaller, so that it pumps lesser water through your pipe, and lowering the pressure.

Same thing happens in the cardiovascular system, when a person take the medication, it will make the heart to pump lesser blood through the blood vessels.

Can taking hypertension medication really solve the root cause of hypertension problem?

How to solve the problem from the root?

Cactus

Cactus has high anti-inflammatory ability. Why it is important? Because the cactus can reduce inflammation in your blood vessels and speed up the healing process.

Ginseng berry

Ashitaba is a amazing super food. It’s also called the herb of longetivity.
A new leaf will sprout the next day if it’s plucked today.
The most precious part of Ashitaba is Ashitaba's  sap. It's only a few milligrams can be collected from the cross section of the stem.
Benefits:
·         Alleviate hyperlipidemia (high blood cholesterol levels)

What are the danger of Whey Protein?

Where does Whey Protein come from?

Whey protein is a mixture of globular proteins isolated from whey, the liquid material created as a by-product of cheese production.

Whey protein typically comes in four major forms

concentrate (WPC), isolate (WPI), hydrolysate (WPH) and Native Whey.
Whey Protein Drink Side Effects
Whey protein is a dietary supplement, a powder derived from cow's milk that is lauded by athletes and bodybuilders for its ability to build hard, lean and strong muscles. The body needs protein as a source of energy, for building and repairing muscles and bones, and to maintain the body's metabolic functions. Whey protein contains the branched chain amino acids (BCAA) leucine, isoleucine and valine, essential amino acids for athletes and those who exercise. Whey protein is of high quality. It's easily digested and absorbed into the body.

Serious Side Effects

Some serious side effects of whey protein may be related to a high protein intake. These include osteoporosis, kidney damage and liver damage. Another serious side effect is an allergic reaction, particularly in people with lactose intolerance.

Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is a condition in which bones become porous, weakened and brittle. They may fracture while bending or during a fall. Low levels of minerals in the bone, such as calcium, results in osteoporosis. Excessive whey protein may cause osteoporosis because amino acids break apart and pass into the blood during the digestion of protein, raising the acidity of the blood. According to the North Western Health Sciences University website, because your body must have a balanced pH level, calcium is pulled from the bone to neutralize the acidity. Therefore, the more protein taken in the diet, the higher the acidity of the blood and the more calcium needed.

Kidney and Liver Damage

Excessive whey protein may not cause kidney or liver damage in healthy people. But because the body doesn't store excess protein, according to the Mayo Clinic website, the product of excess protein, nitrogen, is excreted by the liver and the kidneys. This makes people with kidney or liver disease and other chronic health condition at risk for kidney and liver diseases when excess protein is added to the diet and has to be excreted. These people should consult their health care provider before starting a new diet.

Allergic Reaction

People with milk allergy or lactose intolerance may be at risk for developing an allergic reaction when taking whey protein drinks. Whey protein products shouldn't be taken by these people. Symptoms of an allergic reaction may include a rash or hives with itching and swelling of the face, tongue or throat, along with shortness of breath and difficulty breathing. An allergic reaction is a serious medical condition that requires immediate medical care and attention.

Less Serious Side Effects

Less serious side effects of whey protein supplements may include headache, abdominal cramps, bloating and diarrhea.

Instead of taking Whey Protein, i will opt for safer alternative which is Nutrifresh, which contains 15 types of fruits and vegetables, with main ingredients - Soy Bean.

What's the main different between Plant based Protein vs Animal Protein?

You can look at the FAQ on Nutrifresh here.
