Preventing Broncitis with Nutritional Immunology

Lately has been seeing a lot of story about bronchitis, and for the acute case it could be deadly.

Let's understand more about bronchitis.

It's a inflammation of the mucous membranes of the bronchi, which usually coming into either acute form or chronic form.

Acute bronchitis - 90% of them are due to virus infection, only 10% of them are caused by bacteria infection.

Chronic bronchitis - Chronic bronchitis usually develops due to recurrent injury to the airways caused by inhaled irritants, e.g. pollutants or smoking.

Most of the case for kids, the bronchitis occurs is acute one. But do you know how to differentiate whether it's due to bacteria or virus?

Bacteria - more complex organisms. If it's bacteria infection, the mucous we are seeing is green/yellowish, in color.

Virus - non living. If it's virus infection, the mucous we are seeing is transparent in color.

Next, mother always ask. I will get doctor to give me antibiotic and that will resolve the problem. Isn't it the case??

For the case of bronchitis, do take note if it's due to virus or bacteria infection and leading to inflammation.

Do take note on the side effects of the medication used for bronchitis also.

























The US FDA has warned against misuse of antibiotics, stating that "bacteria and other microorganisms that cause infections are remarkably resilient and can develop ways to survive the drugs meant to kill or weaken them. This antibiotic resistance is due largely to the increasing use of antibiotics."

Some NSAIDS (non steroid anti inflammatory drug are used to stop the inflammation too.















There is nothing better than our own Immune System to fight against the root cause that cause the bronchitis and stop the inflammation.






















So how to let our B cells to fight against those invaders then??

How to different a healthy or bad oil?

Saw a very interesting article on the cooking oil.

monounsaturated fat, polyunsaturated fat,  saturated fat

Does these term sounds familiar? So what to look for in a oil?

On top of the type of the fat, we do have to take look at the Omega 3 and Omega 6 ratio. The lower the Omega 6:Omega 3 ratio the better, as Omega 6 is the factor that leads to inflammation.

Out of all, if taking about lowering cholesterol and preventing cardio diseases, macadamia oil is so far the best, with the ratio of 1:1!

What is Nutritional Immunology?

Nutritional Immunology (NI) is founded by Dr Jau Fei Chen, world outstanding Chinese, same as Mr. Lee Kah Sing, but she represents medical science. Her remarkable background is available here




Nutritional Immunology studies the link between Nutrition and Immune System. In the past when we talk about Nutrition, we often focuses on vitamin supplements, protein, drinking cow's milk, popping calcium/iron pills etc. But the Nutritional Immunology focuses on taking wholesome fruits and vegetables in strengthening our immune system, thus preventing diseases.

Since 29 years ago, Nutritional Immunology has been advocating taking natural, wholesome plant foods. It studies further on how Phytochemical, Antioxidant and Polysaccharides helps in our immune system, thus we can prevent all diseases.

How I came to know Nutritional Immunology.

I believe when we fall sick, we may start to ask around our friends and relatives to get the contact of best specialist, or best Chinese physician. I was one of them too.

I came from Investment banking background. Due to high stress, irregular meal hour and round the clock meetings with colleagues from other regions, I developed in serious insomnia, constant flu and cough, acidic stomach and sinusitis. I remember there was a period whereby I took cab back home from office about 1am-2am, leaving office the same time as UK colleagues, and the night shift cab uncle can remember me, they even offer to fetch me on regular basis!

Subsequently I started to look around for psychiatrist to address my insomnia. At the same time I was on few sleeping pills plus anti-depressant. Name a few - Xanax, Lorazepam. I can't imagine that I had been taking them for more than 1 year!

Also, sinusitis is another problem that bothering me. I believe some people working in office may encounter this. 

Same as lots of people, I been visiting one specialist after another, one TCM after another. The medicine given is able to stop my symptoms, but when I was off from the medicine, the problem back again.

Until one fine day when my friend share with me about Nutritional Immunology, I then know that actually we are all born with best doctor in the world, which is our immune system.

99% of the diseases occur due to the malfunction of immune system, being too strong, too weak, or hyperactive.

And I know I need to nourish my immune system on day to day basis so that it will be balanced. The very first Nutritional Immunology Food that I was taking is Oxyginberry!
