What does big C words mean for Women and your loved one?

Many tries to avoid the big C (Cancer), as it always mean death sentences.

Most of the time, cancer are due to Unhealthy Diet, Lifestyle or exposure to too much free radicals

Public getting more awareness to take care of their lifestyle, by avoiding processed food and add in more fruits and vegetables in diet. People are more health conscious, yet nutrition value may not be enough, why?

1. Most fruits and vegetables nowadays are being plucked when they are not fully ripped, so they can be kept longer during transportation. Nutrition value may not be there yet.

When is banana being harvested nowadays? Green or yellow?

2. Fruits and vegetables that we eat, are they high in phytochemicals, and antioxidants - diseases fighting nutrients

All fruits and vegetables contain phytochemicals and antioxidants. Yet, are they high enough to fight against diseases?

Simple comparison,

Orange has 100+ types of phytochemicals
Aloe Vera has 300+ types of phytochemicals
Cactus has 10,000+ types of phytochemicals

Which will you choose?

Phytochemicals help to cut away cancer formation pathway in our body for proper detoxification process.

3. Safety of the fruits and vegetables to minimize the exposure of pesticides and herbicides

Organic food may not be safe, why? Read up here

Definitely, beside diet, how we have stable emotion, proper sleep and rest is important too to ensure good health.

For me, I choose to adopt NI lifestyle as part of prevention.

I choose prevention over treatment

With treatment, it cause both financial and emotional burden. Some may have insurance to cover for their financial. Often, most frightening is the emotional stress than financial stress

- How are they going to recover?
- Can treatment guaranteed recovery?
- What side effects they will suffered from?
- What happen with the loved ones and family member, especially children. How it will impact them emotionally?
- How the episodes affect their ability of work? Can they continue to provide for family?
- etc

Only via proper prevention, we are able to safe guard our health without burdening our loved ones.

Losing weight healthily

Obesity leads to many health issues, it's important for us to shred of the excessive fat to keep our body healthy

Obesity a time ticking bomb

If you want to have a healthy body weight, start counting your calories daily

How much calorie do we actually need a day?

But how do we know how much calories that we have taken in already?

One of a good app you can download to check for food's calorie is Healthy 365

The app gives you good food database on all the calorie to give you a rough idea on how much calories that we taking in a day.

Say for a lady who is age 31-50 at Singapore, with moderate activity, she needs approx 2000 calorie.

Let's look at some example of the foods she takes

In the Healthy 365 app, you can find the calorie of those food easily

Example:

Losing weight can be simply by choosing a right food.

Calorie of Chicken breast: 147
Calorie of deep fried chicken breast: 439

Do you see a big differences?

Once a food is fried by oil, or go through oil the calorie will shoot up. One teaspoon of oil is 120 in calorie.

Simply make a wise choice in our food, losing weight can be as simple.

Let's look at calorie of some common foods

Weight management starts with making right choices with the food

Here are some of the Superfood which is the best for losing weight healthily, without causing any side effects

Most importantly, we need to be a wise consumer to understand the ingredients, whereby some weight loss products lead to kidney failure. Read up more here

1. Soy bean

Protein from Soy simply convert the fats into muscle and speed up fat decomposition

2. American Ginseng

American Ginseng simply help to give energy while we are monitoring calorie intake, so we are less tired

3. Fibers
Fibers helps to give full filing and thus make us feel full longer. Overall, it gives us sufficient fibers to help to prevent constipation too.

Of course, to lose weight, we must control our calorie intake too.

If we are going to lose 1 kg a week, we must maintenance our calorie intake at 800 a day. So our body will convert the existing fats into calorie, thus clearing the storage.

Similar to a house's storage. If our storage is full at the moment, we have to buy lesser stuff to put into the storage, and at the same time we use up the existing items in the storage to clear it all.

4. Collagen

Collagen is important too for weight loss. As when we loss weight, the muscle may becomes sagging. With the support of collagen, our skin and muscle will become more firm up

However, not all the collagen products can be taken safely.

Letting our body to self produce collagen will not burden our body.

As a convenience, I take 1-Shape/1-Shape lite and Oxyginberry as my high fibers, antioxidants and protein breakfast!

1-Shape and 1-Shape Lite is made of Soy Bean, Psyllium Husk and American Ginseng

As compare to many weight loss products which contains synthetic ingredients. Read up here

Oxyginberry is made of Cactus, Cactus Fruits, Ginseng Berry, Seaweed, Rose and Grape seed

Immunotheraphy vs Nutritional Immunology in fighting Cancer

Saw the newspaper article lately in medical science in Immunotheraphy in fighting cancer, whereby it's leveraging on patient's own immune cells to attack cancer.

However, it's taking the immune cells out from the patient's body and do intensive training in the lab so that it knows how to fight a cancer cells when releasing the immune cells back to the body.

Why not we train up our immune cells on daily basis? Than waiting until things happen then only started leveraging on "external's intensive training"? How much is it going to cost and how effective it is?

This is something that has been advocating in Nutritional Immunology for about 30 years.

Who is the best Doctor?

Our immune system, who is the best doctor in the world, does 3 major function. Protect, Cleanses and Repairs.

Let's look at how it fight against the normal viruses/bacteria.

So how to train up our immune cells on daily basis?

Isn't it that we have to nourish with the right nutrition?

Understand more on What is Nutritional Immunology here, on Dr Jau Fei Chen's session at University of Toronto, School of Medicine

Health is wealth. Towards our golden year, what kind of lifestyle are we having is determined by how we make the choice to protect our health.

We are what we eat, so eat well.

Milk leads to more calcium loss?

Evidence Shows Dairy is Cause for Many Health Related Problems

Let's look at some of the myths related to milk

Myth 1 - Milk is a high quality source of vitamin D and calcium?

The milk myth has spread around the world based on the flawed belief that this protein and calcium-rich drink is essential to support good overall health and bone health in particular at any age. It is easy to understand that the confusion about milk’s imaginary benefits stems from the fact that it contains calcium – around 300 mg per cup.

But many scientific studies have shown an assortment of detrimental health effects directly linked to milk consumption. And the most surprising link is that not only do we barely absorb the calcium in cow’s milk (especially if pasteurized), but to make matters worse, it actually increases calcium loss from the bones. What an irony this is!

Here’s how it happens. Like all animal protein, milk acidifies the body pH which in turn triggers a biological correction. You see, calcium is an excellent acid neutralizer and the biggest storage of calcium in the body is – you guessed it… in the bones. So the very same calcium that our bones need to stay strong is utilized to neutralize the acidifying effect of milk. Once calcium is pulled out of the bones, it leaves the body via the urine, so that the surprising net result after this is an actual calcium deficit.

Knowing this, you’ll understand why statistics show that countries with the lowest consumption of dairy products also have the lowest fracture incidence in their population (there’s more on this later).

Myth 2 - Cow's milk is for calves, breast milk is for human!

Thanks to our creative ingenuity and perhaps related to our ancient survival needs, we adopted the dubious habit of drinking another species’ milk. Nobody can dispute that cow’s milk is an excellent food source for calves.

Weighing around 100 pounds at birth, a calf typically gains approximately eight times its weight by the time it is weaned. But unlike humans, once calves are weaned, they never drink milk again. And the same applies to every mammalian species on this planet.

Also, each mammalian species has its own “designer” milk, and cow’s milk is no exception. For example, cow’s milk contains on average three times the amount of protein than human milk which creates metabolic disturbances in humans that have detrimental bone health consequences.

It’s important to bear in mind that mother’s milk is excellent nourishment for human babies, but its composition is very different from cow’s milk.

Myth 3 - Milk is an acidifying animal protein

Like any other animal derived protein-rich food, milk has a positive potential renal acid load (PRAL) which triggers a protective biological reaction to neutralize all the damaging acidic protein before it reaches the kidneys.

The body is designed for survival, so it sacrifices bone density to protect the kidneys and urinary tract because the latter are essential to survival. And the most readily available source of acid neutralizer is in the bones. So even though milk contains calcium, it ends up sapping your bones of that crucial mineral. But that’s not all because…

There are many way to obtain calcium and protein, it doesn't necessary has to be came from animal sources.

Just that what Nutritional Immunology has been advocating since 25 years ago, our immune system needs plant based nutrients for it to stay optimal.

Good source of calcium from plant are: Pearl, bee pollen, pumpkin, barley
I love this aromantic drink a lot! it's a good convenient for those looking for calcium. It tastes like coffee, but doesn't contain caffeine at all! good replacement for coffee too :)

Congrates to Serene also for her improvement in her eczema!

Before she started Nutritional Immunology food, she has eczema that's affecting her quality life for more than 2 years. She is constantly looking for "effective cream', aka steroid cream or anti-histamine cream. But those are temporary suppressant. After 1 or 2 days, the itch and dry skin comes back again.

Due to the usage of steroid cream, her skins get thinner and thinner and every time when she scratches it will lead to bleeding.....

She took Oxyginberry for 5 months, plus Refresh, GART, other safer and natural skin care series. Congrats to Serene, her eczema didn't came back for more than 1 year. Yet her skin becoming smoother due to collagen and younger skin too!

How Phytochemicals help in diseases prevention including Cancer

Phytochemicals - These are commonly found in all fruits and vegetables and that is the main reason why we have to take more fruits and vegetables. The best doctor in the world, which is our immune system needs phytochemical, anti-oxidant and polysaccharide.

Phytochemicals are chemicals that are produced by plants to help them from UV free radical damages. These beneficial chemicals block various hormone actions and metabolic pathways that are associated with the development of cancer.

Many phytochemicals have been shown to provide protection against malignant cell growth, look at few examples:
  • Sulforaphane, a phytochemical exists in the cruciferous vegetables can activate the Phase II enzymes in our body to destroy cancer causing substances.
  • Genistein, a phytochemical exists in Soy prevents the growth and spreading of tumours by cutting off their oxygen and nutrients supplies from capillary blood vessels.
  • Indole-3, a phytochemical exists in broccoli and berries helps to break down cancer causing estrogen into harmless form.
  • and many more..
Phytochemicals is very beneficial when it's coming through wholesome food source, as it doesn't cause any side effects. Unfortunately the same can't be said for chemically processed phytochemical supplement, like Genistein pill which may easily cause burden to liver and kidney as our body needs to perform additional steps to recognise them.

Orange contains 100+ types of phytochemicals, Aloe Vera contains about 300+ types, and cactus contains up to 10,000 types of phytochemicals. Given a choice, cactus will be very beneficial if we are able to take it into our diet.

I will share more on my diet to make my stay healthy and stay fit.
